Michelle Demai, M.P.T.

Michelle's continuing education has focused on the upper and lower cervical spine, cervicogenic pain, the lumbopelvic region and pelvic pain. She is also skilled in non-operative and post-operative rehabilitation of the shoulder and knee, sports injury rehabilitation and prevention, and functional relationships of the lower extremity. Michelle has an advanced personal training certification from the American College of Sports Medicine. She was an undergraduate sports medicine teaching assistant for U.C. Berkeley. She is a certified water exercise instructor and a certified Pilates Instructor.

Rehabilitation Specialties
General orthopedic both non and post-operative, sports injury prevention and wellness, and rehabilitative water therapy.

Hobbies
Michelle was a four year varsity student athlete for U.C. Berkeley's NCAA division I swim team. She was the recipient of the Mary T. Meagher swimming scholarship, was an Olympic trial qualifier, and is nationally ranked. She enjoys swimming, dancing, drawing, painting, spending time with family, and being a mom.

Rehabilitation Specialties
Lisa enjoys helping patients across the lifespan achieve their movement, performance, and functional goals. She specializes in general orthopedic both non and post-operative conditions, sports injury prevention, and patients presenting with repetitive stress or cumulative trauma disorders. Lisa’s treatment philosophy centers on patient-centered goals, utilizing current evidence, and providing patients with the tools and resources to both manage their symptoms and prevent injury recurrence. Lisa utilizes a combination of manual therapy techniques, customized exercises, postural re-education, and biomechanical training.

Hobbies
Lisa played collegiate volleyball and now enjoys beach doubles. Other interests include camping, backpacking, travel, all forms of dance, rock climbing, and most recently, sprint triathlons. She is a member of the Orthopedic and Sport Sections of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
 


Carrie Susan Haraburda, MSPT

Along with her Personal Training Certification, Carrie has had extensive education in treatment of the shoulder. Her continuing education classes include: Evaluation and Treatment of Orthopedic Shoulder Injuries, Recent Advances in the Evaluation and Treatment of the Shoulder, Myofascial Release by John Barnes, I, II and Fascial-Pelvis along with a Spring Training Shoulder Symposium: Diagnosis, Treatment and Rehabilitation of Shoulder Injuries. Carrie has also completed courses in: Recent Advances in the Evaluation and Treatment of the Knee, and Back to Golf.

Rehabilitation Specialties
Shoulder rehabilitation, non-operative and especially post-operative, knee rehabilitation post-operative, myofascial release techniques, and screening athletes and non-athletes for muscular imbalances and prescribing an exercise program to prevent injuries.

Hobbies
Travel, downhill skiing, photography, gardening, trying to be a golfer, being a mom to Caitlyn and Cole.
 


Lynn Harrington, P.T., CAE
B.A. in Psychology from UCLA
B.S. and Certification in Physical Therapy from UCSF

Lynn's continuing education has focused on the rehabilitation of post surgical, chronic conditions and acute trauma injuries of the upper extremity, splinting of the hand and elbow and cumulative trauma disorders including such diagnoses as carpal tunnel and tendinitis involving the hand and elbow. She also continues to participate in ongoing training involving nervous system disorders such as complex regional pain syndromes and nervous system pathodynamics. Lynn has 20 years of experience with return to work testing and continues to perform functional capacity evaluations.

Rehabilitation Specialties
Lynn's main physical therapy focus is hand therapy. Lynn also continues to specialize in the field of ergonomics and has received a Certification as an Associate Ergonomist from the Oxford Research Institute. She has extensive experience in performing ergonomic education and training of office, home, laboratory and manufacturing workstations. As a specialist, Lynn continues to provide ergonomic classes at Samuel Merritt College in Oakland, CA.

Hobbies
Hiking, travel, photography, snow sports, pilates and working in the garden.
 


Ann-Michelle Ongerth, P.T., D.P.T.
B.A. in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley
Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of Southern California (USC)


Currently completing a year long orthopedic manual therapy course to hone her orthopedic skills. She has been taking a combination of pediatric and orthopedic courses throughout her career with a strong emphasis on spine, gait, lower extremity and the overhead athlete.

Pediatrics – she started her career in an outpatient pediatric sensory integration clinic and has a strong background in developmental and orthopedic issues. General orthopedics with interest in both non and post-operative rehabilitation.

Hobbies
Ann-Michelle is a master swimmer and former lifeguard, other hobbies and interests include reading, gardening, baking, cake decorating and most importantly being a mom to her beautiful son Sean.

Valerie Watase, B.S.P.Tl, Director
B.S. California State University, Northridge (in conjunction with U.C.L.A. School of Medicine) in Health Science and Physical Therapy

Valerie has 25 years of experience with an emphasis in musculoskeletal and neurological rehabilitation. She is a graduate of Kaiser Vallejo's Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation program, emphasizing treatment for musculoskeletal, stroke, spinal cord, and brain injuries. She has completed a year long Orthopedic Manual Therapy course, with emphasis on techniques developed in Australia. Valerie is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Certified Pilates Instructor. She has hundreds of hours of continuing education.

Rehabilitation Specialties
Valerie's specialties include cervical spine problems, cervicogenic headaches, postural, abnormalities, osteoporosis exercise design, geriatric rehabilitation, and balance disorders. Valerie is also experienced in equestrian injury rehabilitation and preventative screening, and hippotherapy.

Hobbies
Valerie has been a life long equestrian and avid hiker. She loves to garden, camp, be outdoors and spend time with her two daughters. She is a National Champion in Equestrian Competition; North American Trail Ride Association.
